Through the lovely people at Influenster UK, I was invited to head to the Marc Jacobs Beauty counter at John Lewis in Oxford Street, London, to try out their products and have my makeup done. It was really fun, and I liked their products, and since a lot of you were asking for details over on Instagram, here’s the full list of the makeup I tried and my thoughts.
First of all, the brushes at Marc Jacobs are really nice! They’re so soft and the bristles are beautifully shaped to pick up just enough product and deliver it to your skin in just the right way. They’re black and have this chic look. You can buy them individually, and they start at about £24 each, though they do do some sets.
The eye shadow and eye liners from this brand are really beautiful. They last really well, and are true to what you see in the pencil or the palette. They’re also really versatile and you can use them and blend them in different ways. I’m in love with the eye shadow palettes, but on my eyes Joanna used:
Twinklepop Eye Shadow Stick in Three Shakes £23, this glides on beautifully, and blends to make popping eyes a breeze. This shade is an earthy, softly shimmering brown.
Matte Highliner Gel Eye Crayon (eyeliner) in Earthquake £20, a soft gel pencil in a chocolate brown, used to define and make the eye more chocolate and smokey. These so one softly, and then don’t smudge, and come in an incredible range of shades.
Brow Wow Brow Defining Longwear Pencil in Medium Brown £19, this has a really fine tip so you can get excellent definition, and the end as a spooly brush to soften and define. Really nice.
And Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara £22, for massive volume and length. Divine!
I found that I needed a stronger makeup remover to take of the eyemakeup, the gel liner and stick eyeshadow are waterproof.
These are some of the amazing highliner shades that you can get your hands on. They’re great because you can do anything with them!
To get the flawless skin from this look:
Under(Cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer £32, which smells incredible, like a holiday, and contains nothing that will clog pores.
Genius Gel Supercharged Foundation in Ivory Medium (was £32) £25, this is a full coverage foundation that feels delightfully refreshing when you put it on, and can be built up to create a more flawless look. It’s quite hydrating, which is really nice.
Remedy Concealer Pen in No 2 £25, this is a lovely pen concealer which contains vitamins and good things to help your tired eyes feel brightened and your skin glowing. I really liked this product.
Re(cover) Perfecting Coconut Setting Mist £25, keeps your makeup fresh and in place all day
I loved the look that these products created, but I did feel like the foundation clogged my pores a little bit, which is unusual. I don’t generally have sensitive skin.
Aren’t these eye shadows gorgeous? They’re beautifully soft and blend nicely. I loved them.
To get a more defined face, you need blush, highlighter and bronzer…
Glow Stick in Spotlight £28, this is a gorgeous stick highlighter that you can build up or tone down. Applied with a blush, it’s perfect for the tops of cheek bones and your cupid’s bow.
Air Blush in Flesh & Fantasy £28, these are so pretty! They have two shades, a light and dark, that you can blend to get a lighter or darker shade, or to highlight and blush, which I think is so cool.
O!Mega Bronze Perfect Tan Tantric £35, this is a super bronzer, and the only one that Marc Beauty does. It’s light and soft, so you can use it wherever you want to create definition and glow. A great product.
Me in the spotlight! he he. The packaging and design of these products is so beautiful. The products come in black, shiny cases, which looks so chic and modern. And the products all smell so beautiful too. I like that using these products feels luxurious and stylish.
Finally, the lips. Marc Beauty has a range of lip products, and I really liked them all. But Joanna and I ended up choosing a matte lipstick in a dark rose pink, but I highly recommend you look at the full range of lip products because they’re all delicious!
(P)outliner Longwear Lip Pencil in Prim(rose) £18, this is a gel based liner that’s perfect for lining lips and creating base to make your lipsticks and glosses last. This pencil is a chic metallic silver, which feels so modern and shiny.
Le Marc Liquid Lip Creme in Shush Blush £24, a liquid lip colour that goes on smoothly and dries to a matt shade that lasts and lasts without drying. I love this colour! It’s a bit like a dark dusky rose. So flattering.
On the whole, I really like the products that were used. I know some of you will point out that they’re not cheap, but because they’re so versatile you can do a lot with them, and because they’re excellent quality, a little seems to go a long way. They’ll last. I also really like the lux feel of the products, and the scent and packaging were delightful. I was impressed, though as I said, I’m not sure about the foundation or perhaps the primer as my skin didn’t seem happy with it.
Beautiful! I love that lipstick, it’s a blue-red and very flattering for an ‘ice queen’ look for winter!
