I have a bit of a thing about white dresses in Summer. They feel so cool and fresh, and perfect for barbeques, garden parties, whatever. Although I invariably spill something on them almost immediately, I still buy them every year.
I fell in love with this dress which you can find along with a myriad of others at Zaful.com, it has a bit more personality than your average dress, and the rainbow is perfect for Summer. (Zaful.com are having a sale right now, by the way)
In my job, I mostly wear casual, chic dresses or jeans with a blazer to movie screenings, but it pays to have something cute and fun in my wardrobe that allows me to express more personality, in case I am going to a Q&A with actors or directors, a gallery opening or friends book signing, or meeting a designer at their store opening. It’s easy to get lost in the crowd, and I guess it pays to make an impression. This dress really does! I guess it’s not for the faint of heart (but hey, I work in movies, it’s all about the drama, right?).
For make up, I went with a bright lip, and feline eye flicks. With a dress like this you need some drama to your make up, but not too much.
I used some neutral shades on the eye lid: from the Stila Eyes Are The Window Palette in Spirit (specifically Wheat, Golightly and Espresso) and a nice liquid liner from Borjois. I also used Loreal Miss Manga Mega Volume Mascara, which I really love. It works.
Most importantly, the lips: make sure you use a lip liner, you want to have a defined lip when you use a bright shade. I’m happy with the ones from Rimmel. Then I filled in my lips with Rimmel The Only 1 Lipstick in 610 Cheeky Coral, using a lip brush. Finally, I put Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in 190 Pin Up over the top. This shade is very pink, I really like it.
I kept accessories simple, these earrings are actually my mothers which she wore in the 80s! I have them in banana yellow as well.
Hope you liked this look. You might also like THIS Vintage 20s look or THIS cute ballet style crop top.
