About

Welcome to CravenWild – a cozy corner where I’ve been sharing my love of books (and some lifestyle content too) for over ten years. I’m Hermione Flavia, a British Columbia-based writer and cinema historian, who believes the right story (or lipstick shade) can truly change your life.

With a background in movie history and filmmaking, I’ve spent years analyzing narratives across film and literature. I read voraciously—over 200 books per year across genres—and channel that passion into honest, thoughtful reviews here on the blog and on my YouTube channel, CravenWild. Whether it’s literary fiction, classics, mystery, horror, true crime, biography, non-fiction, or the occasional YA gem, I dive deep so you get perspectives grounded in wide reading and genuine enthusiasm.

What began as a simple book blog to keep me busy at a quiet desk job, has grown into a space for connecting with fellow readers, collaborating with publishers like Simon & Schuster, HarperCollins, Hachette, and Publishers Group Canada, and spotlighting stories that linger long after the last page.

Outside of books, I love animals. I have a black cat called Grimoire, who likes to “help” me record for my YouTube channels. I sew my own clothes, mostly inspired by vintage sewing patterns and old Hollywood movie styles. And I love getting creative, whether is playing with paint, drawing, journaling, gardening or trying out a new recipe.

If you’re here for a trustworthy recommendation, a fresh take on a new release, or just to share in the joy (and occasional chaos) of a towering TBR pile, pull up a chair—you’re in the right place. 📖✨

Let’s talk books.

  2. Call me a tired old sexist or a creepy admirer, but I have to ask how it is that you worked in films but weren’t lured in front of the camera.
‘Complete lack of acting ability’ is an acceptable answer. But you could be the passing stranger who captures the hero’s eye…

  5. I definitely see that you have style and taste. Great blog. I do look forward to more. I invite you to check out what I’m up to over at my blog. Some of my posts are nice and to the point and some I need to spread out and give you a bigger picture. I do appreciate likes but I hunger for more comments. Sometimes I wonder if people even bother to read half of the posts they give likes to!
